The study of history and the world is a cornerstone of the Montessori curriculum - children develop a ‘global perspective’ by learning about geography, people, plant and animal life of different regions and natural wonders. Children are introduced to these materials as a result of observation of their interest.

The World Puzzle Map is a flat wooden board. Each continent inset is a cut out that can be lifted out of the frame. Children may choose to trace the shape of each piece and learn the name of all seven continents. Later they may choose to trace the map onto paper. They can colour in and label the continents. Older children can also use puzzle maps of each continent to name countries and later, the world’s capital cities.
