Milan is aged 5 years and  Priya is 3. Both children attend Kowhai

“Capital Montessori has been a large part of our family’s life for the past three years. Milan has been in the 3 to 6 year programme in the Kowhai classroom for 2 1⁄2 years, while our Priya has been in the same class for six months.

We are so appreciative of the care our children have received during their time at Capital Montessori.  Lois and her team have truly invested in our children.  They’re developing socially into happy, caring and responsible children, and in their desire to learn.  

The teachers in Kowhai are amazingly skilled at allowing the children to lead their own learning.

This combined with the extensive range of Montessori equipment and large outdoor area, and gentle discipline when required, has created a fun and inspiring learning environment.

We chose Capital Montessori because we got a good feeling about the place when we visited.  Milan loved being there, we loved the tidy classroom, and the orderly way that it was run, and we loved the emphasis put on respect for self, others, environment and resources.  We also found the staff and the families very welcoming!  

Allowing the children to lead their own learning was quite a foreign concept for us.  But seeing the teacher present materials to the children in areas they have observed an interest in, and seeing the children’s response, the enthusiasm to have a go, and the pleasure in completing a task has been a joy for us to watch and a source of pride.

We had very little understanding of the Montessori philosophy when we made our decision, but as we have seen it in practice we can’t stop singing its praises.

We believe Capital Montessori has helped us as parents to nurture and encourage Milan and Priya into confident, motivated children who are excited about new experiences and learnings.  We look forward to our new baby enjoying the same benefits!”.
