“With two children in Kowhai class and another attending the school’s playgroup for under 3’s, Capital Montessori School is very much a part of our family life!

We discovered Capital Montessori quite by chance when investigating pre-school opportunities for our eldest daughter, Kezia. At that time we knew little about the Montessori philosophy and approached the school alongside a range of other crèche and kindergarten options.

What struck us – in visiting the school for the first time – was the calm and productive classroom atmosphere.  Seeing a large number of children simultaneously and independently engaged in a wide range of activities from making scones and mixing paints to writing stories and ringing bells seemed quite remarkable to us!

It is true to say that many of the classroom materials seemed unfamiliar and strange – but an information evening shortly after our class visit helped to put us in the picture and also reinforced for us the immense passion and commitment of the teaching staff at CMS.

Montessori has now become an important focus for us – not just in terms of school, as it is also now part of our thinking and activities at home. You can’t help but feel you made the right choice for your children when both your 3 and 5 year old are actively excited to go to school and regularly come home enthusing about their day.  They have also made many new friends - as have we!

Capital Montessori is much more than teachers, drop-offs, children and parents. It’s a genuine community and one to which we are pleased to be a part.
