Diana Noble - Part-time Teacher, Kowhai

photo“It’s a joy to see children learning for themselves and developing concentration and growing in independence in ways that rarely happen in traditional pre-schools”

After a career in the WRNS – the Women's Royal Naval Service - Diana gained her Montessori diploma in London in 1989. She worked in a Montessori school in Wimbledon before moving to Brussels in Belgium, where her children were born. Diana returned to teaching when her daughter reached the age of 4. Prior to coming to New Zealand in 2007, Diana was Principal of a nursery school in South London. She joined Capital Montessori in October 2008. She believes one of the strengths of Montessori is its emphasis on observation and reflection, so the right environment can be provided, to suit the needs of each child.

Diana has a son and a daughter in consecutive years of sixth form in Wellington schools. She enjoys walking on Wellington’s beaches and going to theatres and cinemas. Diana is also a volunteer animal therapist with the SPCA, and she also spends time visiting the elderly in care homes, and dog walking! She’s determined to see as much of New Zealand as possible while she and her family are here, and they have already managed 4 South Island trips and 4 North Island trips!
