Enrolling your child

We currently have places available in our preschool programme. 

We also have spaces for new families with children under 3 in our infant and toddler playgroup sessions. 

Preschool

1. Visit our school. Book a time to take a tour and observe a classroom in action.

2. Register or Enrol. Complete a registration or enrolment form. 

We'll then get in touch with you to offer your child a place and complete their enrolment, or place them on our waiting list until they are ready to start. Children usually start preschool around their 3rd birthday, or the term before they turn 3, if they are ready and there is a place for them in the classroom.

Infant & Toddler Playgroup

Families interested in joining our under-3 infant and toddler community are welcome to email us to arrange to visit a session. 

Preschool

Capital Montessori School is a not-for-profit, parent co-operative run by a Principal and an elected Board of parents. We try to keep fees as low as possible to enable more children and families to be part of our community and access quality early childhood education.

HOURS

Our preschool hours are Monday to Friday from 8.30am to either 1pm, 3pm, 4pm, 4.30pm or 5pm. We follow the NZ primary school terms (four each year, approximately 10 weeks per term) and we also offer an optional holiday programme (for enrolled children).
Please note that enrolment in our 3 - 6 year programme is for 5 days a week. We do not offer part-weeks as it is an important part of the Montessori philosophy for all children to be present at school each day.

FEES for 2026

The following are the fees that apply for children signed up to 20 Hours ECE. The fees are charged for hours over and above the 20 Hours ECE.

Enrolment 8:30am - 1pm/3pm: $19.09 per day, $95.45 per week (Basic enrolment)

Enrolment 8:30 - 4pm: $32.35 per day, $161.75 per week (Extended day 4pm)

Enrolment 8:30am - 4.30pm: $38.98, per day $194.90 per week (Extended day 4.30pm)

Enrolment 8:30am - 5pm: $45.61 per day, $228.05 per week (Extended day 5pm)

The Holiday programme is charged at the same rate as above.

Breakdown of extended day costs for regular booking (*add $3 for a casual, as-needed booking subject to availability):

Per day: 3pm - 4pm: $13.26
Per day: 3pm - 4.30pm: $19.89
Per day: 3pm - 5pm: $26.52

There is a registration fee of $50 (per family) to reserve a place for your child, and cover administration/membership of the Capital Montessori School Inc. Society. A bond of half a term’s fee is required to confirm enrolment (two terms before your child's start date). This bond is refundable in your child's final term, but is non-refundable if your child does not take up their place. This $50 fee also applies to our Rata playgroup, however, Rata families will get this fee deducted from their bond.

Assistance with paying fees for 3 and 4 year olds may be available through the Childcare Subsidy offered by Work & Income New Zealand (WINZ).

Infant & Toddler Playgroup

Fees for Rata Infant & Toddler sessions are $100 per family, per term.
